During the Southern Region FAMU National Alumni Convention held on February 9, 2019, our very own Lashandra Newton Span was elected and sworn in as Southern Region Chaplain.
Dr. Lashandra Newton Span graduated from Shaker Heights Senior High School in Shaker Heights Ohio. It was from there that she launched her professional academic career at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). She received a Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy from the School of Allied Health. While a student at FAMU, Lashandra was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. She was also initiated into the Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in the Spring of 1992. She served the chapter as Second Vice President. She also served the Panhellenic Council as Vice President.
After graduating from FAMU, Lashandra continued her education at Nova Southeastern University where she received a Master of Science in Health Administration. She worked as the Health Administrator for the School District of Palm Beach County. As a lifelong learner, Lashandra continued her education at Capella University where she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services with a specialization in Health Care Administration.
Lashandra Newton Span resides in Atlanta, Georgia, were she is an active member of the FAMU Metro Atlanta Alumni Association. She currently serves as the Community Affairs Chairperson. Lashandra Newton Span is the CEO of Covenant Physical Therapy, Inc., is an Adjunct Professor and is a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.
