Nomination and Election of Metro Atlanta Chapter Officers

2021 NOMINATION AND ELECTION OF CHAPTER OFFICERS

 

Greetings Rattlers,

I pray this message finds you all in good health. The purpose of this email is to inform you that the Florida A&M University (FAMU) National Alumni Association Metro Atlanta Chapter election season is rapidly approaching. The coronavirus pandemic will alter our traditional local chapter election process this year. Thus, we’ve slightly deviated from our normal procedures to provide a convenient way for our financial members to cast their votes. Accordingly, the content herein will highlight key dates and cite pertinent Bylaws for the FAMU National Alumni Association Metro Atlanta Chapter, Inc. (“Bylaws”) to consider during the 2021 voting process. Our chapter Bylaws has a summary of officer duties and election rules, which can be referenced here.

The nomination process began on Friday, March 19, 2021, and nominations will be accepted through Saturday, April 17, 2021. Please submit your nominations for President, Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, and Financial Secretary via email to nominating@famuatlantaalumni.org. Remember, nominees eligible for office must be financial members and only regular members are permitted to hold the office of President. See Bylaws Section 6.1

Nominees declining nomination must provide a written statement one month prior to election date. See Bylaws Section 6.2. Thus, nominees declining nomination should submit a statement to nominating@famuatlantaalumni.org by Thursday, April 29, 2021. This will allow us an opportunity to update our ballots.

Financial members can cast their ballots electronically through a link to be provided by our local FAMU National Alumni Association Metro Atlanta Chapter. The link will be available from Saturday, May 1, 2021 through Saturday, May 29, 2021, 11:59 PM EST. Alternatively, financial members who wish to vote via absentee ballot shall submit a written request for an absentee ballot from the Corresponding Secretary via email by Thursday, April 29, 2021. The absentee ballot should be postmarked and returned to the Chapter’s mailing address, P.O. Box 311991, Atlanta, GA 31131 by Monday, May 24, 2021. See Metro Atlanta Bylaws Section 6.5(c).
